Presentation
The Introduction to Native Species Silviculture course came about through a collaborative effort between the Serviço Florestal Brasileiro (Brazilian Forest Service - SFB) and the Coalizão Brasil Clima, Florestas e Agricultura (Brazil Climate, Forests and Agriculture Coalition), specifically its Programa de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento da Silvicultura de Espécies Nativas (Research and Development Program for Native Species Forestry - PP&D-SEN). Comprising educational and research institutions, the private sector, governments, and civil society, Rede-SELD forms a Brazilian network integrated into the program.
The course is designed to provide a solid knowledge foundation, built in a didactic and accessible way, covering everything from concepts and fundamentals to field applications for planting native Brazilian species.
The course's development was a collaborative effort involving eighteen professionals from diverse bodies, which encompassed universities, civil society organizations, companies, and representatives from the productive sector. Thanks to this diversity, a thorough method was developed, integrating scientific knowledge, public policy, and the reality of field practices.
The suggested teaching methodology combines theory and practice in an innovative way. Attendees will be exposed to benchmark technical content, as well as practical classes conducted in actual research, planting, and forestry production areas, thereby connecting scientific knowledge and productive practices.
